Event Branding - 2022

Apollo Awards is an AND Digital event, aimed at celebrating and rewarding the outstanding achievements of its most exceptional employees. Held at the prestigious Peter Harrison Planetarium, part of London's renowned Greenwich Observatory, I had the privilege of designing a distinctive brand identity that celebrated both the spirit of ambition and success, as well as the iconic venue hosting it.

Aims and challenges :

Designing the brand identity for an event hosted at a world-renowned planetarium presented a unique challenge: creating a connection between the iconic venue and the event’s purpose. The goal was to bring this relationship to life through a compelling visual identity.

From the outset, it was agreed that the design should draw inspiration from elements of space, such as stars and planets. To align with the theme of celebrating ambition and success, I proposed using NASA's 1969 Apollo mission as the centerpiece of the event’s visuals. This concept not only informed the event's name, "Apollo Awards," but also shaped the logo, which immediately conveys its link to space and the prestigious venue.

Drawing from the most iconic moments of the lunar landing, I created a series of custom illustrations that were adapted for various digital and printed materials, ensuring consistency and impact across all event assets.

Assets :

The visual identity of the event was showcased across various printed and digital mediums, beginning with the event’s logo, which was prominently projected onto the planetarium’s dome, creating a striking entrance for arriving guests. A custom step-and-repeat backdrop provided a branded photo opportunity, while pull-up banners enhanced the atmosphere and highlighted the different award categories.

The bespoke illustrations were adapted for multiple uses, including stickers, digital backgrounds, and animated clips for each award presentation. To create the animated elements, I collaborated with a specialized video production agency, sharing isolated graphic components and offering creative direction and feedback to ensure the animations aligned with the intended design vision.
