Case study redesign:

Illustrations / design system - 2020

AND Digital

Tech company AND Digital needed a fresh approach to presenting their case studies in a way that was both visually appealing and engaging. With clients spanning diverse industries, the main challenge was to create a design that not only highlighted their success stories but also distinguished them from the generic visuals of competitors.

In the tech world, many services are abstract and difficult to visualize, often resulting in overly conceptual imagery. To bring these activities to life and make them relatable to the average viewer, I chose to use illustration as the primary visual language. This allowed me to convey complex ideas in a more accessible and engaging way.

The case studies varied in focus—some were about building tangible products, while others centered on services like consultancy or training. For product-focused case studies, I integrated mockups with a clay-like finish to blend seamlessly with the overall illustrative style. This combination of photography and illustration helped create a cohesive, polished look.

I structured the visuals to mirror the narrative flow of the case study itself: the client, the challenge, the solution, and the results. The hero illustration at the top acts as a visual story, unfolding from left to right. As the viewer scrolls down, each section of the written case study is paired with an isolated fragment of the main illustration, reinforcing the specific part of the story being told.

The redesign significantly enhanced user engagement with the case studies by presenting stories alongside imagery that not only complemented the content but also made it easier to understand. The thoughtful integration of visuals helped to simplify technical details and draw readers into the narrative.

The new design received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both clients and users, further solidifying AND Digital's bold identity and setting them apart from competitors.
